- Best time The hours around low tide
Opens in the Google Maps app with every stop as a waypoint — navigate right from your phone.
Start at Coligny, the island's busiest beach hub, and point your tires north. You can turn around whenever you like, but Folly Field makes a natural finish about six and a half miles up. Time it around low tide and stay on the firm, darker sand near the waterline — the soft, dry sand higher up is a slog.

Good to know
Ride the tide, not the clock
The beach is only firm near low tide. Check the day's low-tide time and aim for the window around it — low tide slides about an hour later each day.
Go early or late
Midday summer sand gets crowded and hot. Early morning and the golden hour before sunset are the magic windows — cooler, quieter, prettier.
Rinse the salt
Salt and sand are hard on a bike. Give it a quick freshwater rinse when you're done, or ask your rental shop how they'd like it returned.
